Use word problems to provide context for dividing unit fractions by whole numbers (sharing model). If 1/4 of a theater is divided into 2 sections, how big is each section? Draw a bar model to show 1/4 ÷ 2 is the same as 1/2 of 1/4. Since 1/2 x 1/4 = 1/8, each section is 1/8 of the whole theater. Divide by 2 or multiply by 1/2.
